TCB medical devices was founded by Thomas C. Beller, MD., an allergist in South Carolina.  Dr. Beller sees patients with severe allergies related to a variety of different substances including, nuts, shellfish, milk, eggs, insects, medications, and other items.  Over the years, Dr. Beller became frustrated that most of these patients did not carry epinephrine, despite many warnings that they were at risk of dying from anaphylaxis.  It became clear that most patients are fearful of reactions and would like to have access to epinephrine.  Some of them would forget to carry it, but most patients simply find the available devices too bulky and cumbersome to carry.   This realization prompted Dr. Beller to take matters into his own hands.  In late 2009 he organized a group of investors and located a prominent engineering firm in North Carolina.  Over a period of several months, this firm took Dr. Beller's drawings and turned them into a functioning prototype.  This prototype is undergoing tests in preparation for a submission to the FDA for approval.  The FDA approval process is expected  to proceed fairly quickly as similarly functioning devices have already been stringently evaluated.  This expedited approval process is called a 510k submission.  We are confident that our device will find success in the market as it is superior to devices currently available.  The portability of the device and the revolutionary concept of designing it to attach to a keychain give our device distinct advantages.  We believe it has a chance to significantly reduce the death rate from anaphylaxis as it will increase the availability to epinephrine in a significant way.
